THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and creative Men’s Apparel Product Developer to lead the development and execution of innovative cut-and-sew apparel and sweater knit products from concept through production. This role requires close collaboration with the Design, Product Development, Technical Design, and Sourcing teams to deliver commercially successful, trend-forward products with an emphasis on quality, fabric, fit, construction, and execution.
This role is responsible for managing the product lifecycle, overseeing sample development, and ensuring timely execution across all stages of development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle across all categories, from concept to production handoff.
- Partner with Design and vendors to ensure design intent, quality standards, and timelines are achieved.
- Collaborate with the Design team to translate creative concepts into technically feasible products.
- Manage and update BOMs, tech packs, and product data within the company’s PLM system.
- Track and maintain development WIP status, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met.
- Lead communication with overseas vendors regarding product execution, sample development, costing, and lead times.
- Negotiate costs, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and lead times in collaboration with the Sourcing team.
- Analyze product development calendars to ensure timely delivery across multiple seasonal collections.
- Collaborate with Production teams to ensure a smooth transition from development to production.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in product development, preferably in men’s apparel.
- Strong technical understanding of materials, fabrics, trims, garment construction, and fit.
- Proven track record of managing multiple product categories and seasonal calendars.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Experience working with overseas factories and managing global vendor relationships.
Preferred Attributes
- Strong understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with knit, woven, fleece, and cut & sew product categories.
- Knowledge of wash techniques, print applications, dye methods, and trim development.
- Ability to identify opportunities for product improvement, cost optimization, and process efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience supporting product development from initial concept through bulk production.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for vendor visits and development meetings.
