Sturgis Charter Public School, a rigorous college preparatory high school in Hyannis, Massachusetts seeks a full-time School Counselor for the 2026-27 school year. We are seeking candidates who will bring to Sturgis a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion through lived experience, teaching, scholarship and/or community service.
Job Description
- Provide academic, college/career, and social/emotional counseling to a caseload of students.
- Collaborate with other district school counselors for the purpose of developing, reviewing, assessing and maintaining our comprehensive school counseling program.
- Assist students/parents in understanding school policies and procedures.
- Provide information/resources and referrals and consultation to teachers, families and community agencies and organizations.
- Cultivate a college-going school culture by developing and providing activities and programs for college exploration and preparation for students and their families.
- Deliver curriculum to support social/emotional learning to include the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program and the State mandated drug and alcohol education/screening program (SBIRT) for 9th graders
- Provide brief counseling to address social and emotional concerns and help students learn coping skills for personal, academic, and family concerns.
- Collaborate and regularly communicate with other staff (assistant principal, principal, special education teachers and administrators, school nurse, adjustment counselors) regarding both social/emotional and academic concerns for students.
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with students and families using culturally sustaining best practices.
Salary : $52,000 - $82,000
