Sturdy Grinding and Machining is an ISO certified company located in New Haven, MI. We provide industry leading centerless and o.d. grinding services, as well as straightening and honing to customers in various industries. Currently, Sturdy Grinding and Machining is recruiting an entry level centerless grinder hand to an experienced centerless grinder that is comfortable in a production environment.

Title: Machine Operator (Bar Grinder)

Location: New Haven, MI

Compensation: $15-$30 per hour dependent on experience

Experience: centerless grinding, 3 years required, 5 years preferred.

Experienced Bar Grinders welcome

Set up and operate centerless bar grinding machines with minimal supervision.

Able to hold .0005" tolerance on long bars.

Applicant must be capable of standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 60 lbs.

Utilize the necessary inspection equipment including micrometers, profilometers, and dial indicators

Have adequate reading and writing skills to read job sheets and communicate process information

Band finished materials

Add and subtract decimals

Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing work environment

Suitable candidates must have dependable transportation'

Typical end time:

• 2-4PM

Typical start time:

• 6AM

Responsibilities
- Operate grinding equipment to shape and smooth metal components according to specifications.
- Utilize micrometers to ensure precision and accuracy in grinding processes.
- Read blueprints to understand project requirements and dimensions.
- Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to standards.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and meet production goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
