Job description

Who We Are:

We are a small, boutique tutoring center providing tutoring services to students ranging from junior high to high school in standardized exams such as the SAT, ACT, TACHS, AP, and Regents, as well as homework assistance/school enrichment in specific subjects that include Math, Science, English, Reading, and Writing. We offer these services to the local community of students that strive to excel in their academic endeavors.

We are seeking captivating and effective Tutors for 2 open positions for the upcoming Summer-Fall 2026 time line that can teach several of the following subjects:

  • Digital SAT
  • ACT
  • AP/Honors/Regents Mathematics such as Calculus AB/BC, Pre-Calculus, Statistics
  • AP/Honors/Regents Science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Psychology, Micro/Macro Economics

The position is part-time (usually after-school hours) that entails one-on-one tutoring and/or possibly small groups for classroom (no more than 3 students in a class) instruction.

Lessons are scheduled during time periods that meet the availability of both teachers and students. Therefore, the more time availability the teacher provides the more students they can add to their schedule. We are looking for teachers that are flexible with scheduling and readily available with their time.

  • Experience with teaching/tutoring students in the Junior High & High School level
  • Planning to stay long term with our tutoring center (if you are planning to go away to pursue graduate school such as medical, dental, law, etc. and can only do short term then this is not for you)
  • Available on both weekday afternoons and weekend mornings (as needed)
  • At least 3 years of experience in one-on-one and classroom settings
  • Flexible nature and willing to go above and beyond to help the students succeed
  • A strong candidate is one that can teach 2 or more of the different subjects as listed above.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and educate students in one-on-one and/or small classroom setting(s)
  • Design and implement lesson plans at varying academic levels (Regents to AP levels)
  • Establish academic goals and milestones with students
  • Document and communicate progress reports via tutor session logs that are submitted post-session
  • Provide constructive feedback for students
  • Maintain open communication with the tutoring center and parents not only for progress but also questions or concerns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Required); Masters or higher degree (Preferred); Teaching license/certification (Preferred); Current public/private school teacher (Desired)
  • Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or other related fields
  • Ability to build rapport with students
  • Sufficient knowledge of core educational subjects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
