Project Manager
Studio G Architects, a growing design-oriented interior and architectural design firm located near downtown San Jose is seeking a Project Manager to join our growing design practice.
Our projects include extensive exterior repositioning and market-ready creative interior improvements, civic and commercial shell buildings, corporate interiors, tenant improvements, life science, biomedical and R&D labs and residential projects.

Position Overview:
The Project Manager plays a vital role in the execution of projects from schematic design through construction administration. The Project Manager leads multi-disciplinary teams from early design through construction closeout. This role owns scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication; drives consultant coordination; ensures code and zoning compliance; and mentors staff to elevate project outcomes and team growth. This individual will work closely with senior designers, and firm leadership to deliver high-quality design and documentation. Candidates must demonstrate good technical knowledge, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for design excellence.

Core Functions of the position:
Project Leadership and Coordination
- Lead consultants and internal team to execute design intent and deliver complete, coordinated implementation documents.
- Coordinate with Principals, senior staff, clients, agencies, consultants, and contractors; lead work sessions to integrate building systems and resolve issues.
- Prepare for and lead team meetings; set agendas, assign actions, and track follow-through.
- Elicit trust and appreciation from the client and internal studio g staff.
- Foster a healthy team environment; resolve conflict constructively and model professional communication.
Planning, Scheduling and Project Delivery
- Develop and manage project workplans and project schedules; define milestones and hold the team accountable to deadlines and quality of work.
- Maintain accountability to the approved project plan and targeted utilization rates across phases.
- Anticipate risks, propose mitigations, and adjust resources to keep deliverables on track.
- Effectively and fully own and manage project plans, schedule, budgeted fees and staffing to deliver successful and profitable projects.
- Be primary source for monitoring and managing employee performance and handling multiple accounts and larger scale projects up to 50K SF.
Technical Quality and Documentation
- Prepare, review, and coordinate construction documents; ensure conformance with Studio G standards, best practices, and QA/QC expectations.
- Coordinate with senior staff on code analysis; confirm that code and zoning requirements are met and properly documented.
- Guide designers on materials/systems evaluation and oversee appropriate application of products and assemblies.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare client-facing presentations; present design concepts and drawing packages as needed.
- Manage client feedback and scope modifications; ensure timely approvals while maintaining project objectives and design intent.
- Support Principals by identifying new opportunities, nurturing existing relationships, and assisting with proposals, fees, and schedules; participate in business development pursuits as appropriate.
Financial and Contract Management
- Manage the project accounting process (budget tracking, forecasts, invoices) and assist in preparing proposals.
- Deliver projects within defined budget parameters; monitor project budget and adjust scope/resources proactively.
- Understand contract terms; recognize and document additional services.
- Project Managers are assigned project billing and Effective Billing Rate (EBR) targets and are expected to actively support the financial success of their projects.
Field and Construction Administration
- Attend site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; issue well-documented field reports and meeting notes.
- Track submittals, RFIs, and change documentation with timely and clear responses.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of architectural building systems and detailing (exterior renovations, core & shell, and interiors).
- Working knowledge of accessibility guidelines and building codes.
- Excellent command of construction drawings, coordination across phases, and QA/QC workflows.
- Software: Revit and AutoCAD, Bluebeam; MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and InDesign preferred.
Your Qualifications
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
- Architectural registration preferred (not required).
- 8–10 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate construction documents across phases.
- Strong presentation skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organization, and client-relationship skills.
- Ability to generate space plans with minimal direction.
- Proficiency in Revit & AutoCAD; proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with Adobe CC and SketchUp preferred.
Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
