Job Duties: on site conditions such as location, accessibility, topography, drainage, vegetation and structure location for landscape design and planning; Applies his knowledge of design techniques, tools, and the principles involved in the production of precise drawings, and models of design concepts; Creates landscapes that minimize water consumption and manage stormwater, through plant selection, site grading and relevant technology; Prepares design concepts and sketches for presentation to clients and other consultants for review and discussion; Once project overview is clear, defines the schedule for each project phase; and Makes refinements and delivers final design scheme at various stages through conceptual design packages, design development and construction document sets. 20%: Writes specifications, prepares cost estimates and reports: Works in a team or on his own to specify materials, techniques and timelines for each project phase; Prepares specifications, and cost estimates as project requires; Applies his knowledge of available materials and their relative aesthetic qualities to specify materials and methods to achieve the desired result; Studies and incorporates all municipal, state or federal regulations that may have a bearing on the project; and Prepares project cost estimates and reviews landscape cost estimates prepared by others (suppliers or professional estimators). 20% Construction Phase: Reviews bids against project specs, shop drawings and budget; Applies detailed knowledge of project roadmap to ensure that Project Manager is aware of unforeseen developments; Inspect landscape work to ensure compliance with specifications, evaluate quality of materials or work, or advise clients or construction personnel; and Acts as Project Manager when so assigned under the supervision of licensed professionals.
Minimum Entry Qualifications: At least a master's degree in landscape architecture or a closely related field. Foreign equivalent degree accepted. Pursuant to section 8(1) of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Landscape Architects' Registration Law, the holder of this position is exempt from licensure because all work will be performed under the supervision of a licensed Landscape Architect.
