Accountant

A non-profit focused on tutoring and mentoring of underserved students in Akron is seeking accountant to join our finance team and play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial operations. This part-time role is well suited for a retiree or for someone interested in a secondary job that is in altruistic minded with a passion for helping kids. Average weekly time commitment is three hours.

• Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
• Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure data accuracy.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently using accounting software such as QuickBooks
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Serve in vital role on the Finance Committee that oversees monthly expenditures
• Support internal and external audits through documentation preparation and audit trail maintenance.
• Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements and assist with tax-related processes
• Manages payroll for staff

• Proven experience with a solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks
• Knowledge of GAAP standards
• Demonstrated ability in financial reporting and interpretation to support management decisions.
• Experience working within non-profit accounting environment is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on cash flow analysis, bank reconciliation, and account reconciliation procedures.
