About Students 2 Science:
Students 2 Science’s mission is to inspire and empower all students through hands-on learning experiences, encouraging them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to strengthen the future workforce. Through Students 2 Science’s STEM programs, camp participants will build a greater understanding of STEM, enhance technical skills, and be provided with information and guidance on STEM education and career pathways.
Description:
- This is an in-person, seasonal position at our Apollo Technology Center in Whippany, NJ.
- Duration: June 29 to August 14, 2026.
- STEM Camp High School Interns will be compensated at the rate of $16.00 per hour.
- You will work 5 days a week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Monday to Friday) for the duration of the camp season. Camp Interns will work a maximum of 25-30 hours per week.
- As a Students 2 Science STEM Camp Intern, you will work with an assigned Instruction Leader to immerse camp participants in an engaging and fun Summer STEM experience, exploring a variety of STEM concepts.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in guiding and encouraging camp participants through STEM learning activities.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and engaging learning environment for camp participants and staff.
- Work collaboratively with Instructional Leaders and other Interns to deliver fun and exciting STEM learning experiences.
- Attend meetings with Instructional Leaders and other Interns.
- Oversee a group of camp participants for the duration of each camp session.
- Support the delivery of hands-on, fun-filled science activities, highlighting key STEM concepts at an appropriate level for the camp participants.
- Cultivate a sense of belonging for all participants.
- Participate in required work‑readiness training and career/professional development programs, workshops, and related activities throughout the internship.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 16 years of age or older to apply.
- Must be a New Jersey resident.
- Some prior experience facilitating programs with groups of children preferred.
- Demonstrated communication skills, especially in science content.
- Passion for working with children in an informal science educational setting.
- Demonstrated interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), including some high school level coursework in astronomy, engineering, earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, or related curriculum.
- Possess strong leadership, organization, administrative, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from our site.
