Position Overview
The Unity Center is seeking responsible and dependable Student Drivers to support transportation needs for programs, events, and off-campus excursions. Student Drivers play a critical role in expanding access to Unity Center programs by ensuring that transportation is not a barrier. Position Information
Position Title: Student Van Driver
Department: Unity Center
Hiring Manager: Cliff-Simon Vital
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour; paid for the full duration of assigned events and trips (Plus standard annual increases when applicable)
Term of Employment: Full Academic Year (Fall, Winter, and Spring Semesters)
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive college rental vehicles to transport students, staff, and materials to and from events and excursions
- Support Unity Center programs by ensuring timely arrival and departure for all scheduled activities
- Remain present and available for the entire duration of assigned events, as drivers are compensated throughout the full event timeline
- Follow all college driving policies, safety procedures, and risk management guidelines
- Conduct basic vehicle checks (cleanliness, fuel levels, visible issues) before and after use
- Maintain a professional and respectful presence when interacting with students and staff
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns
- Attend required meetings or briefings related to trips as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must be a certified college-approved driver (or willing to complete certification prior to driving)
- Must meet all college risk management, CAN certification, and driver eligibility requirements
- Completion of required onboarding/training (cost covered by the Unity Center)
- Excellent reliability, punctuality, and accountability
- Strong sense of responsibility and sound judgment
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Previous experience driving vans or similar vehicles
- Familiarity with campus transportation policies
- Experience supporting student programs or events
