Job Summary
Provides lighting, rigging, staging, and help with the video walls for this event. Install the rigging, trussing, lighting and control for the event, as well as act as run crew for the concert. Following the concert and Commencement, the crew will strike all equipment and pack it on to trucks.
Supervision
This position reports to the Commencement Technical Coordinator.
Representative Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties

Unpack, prep, and hang lighting fixtures onto trussing. Run and manage cabling according to technical plots. Assist with "focusing" lights and installing gels, gobos, or top hats. Perform basic troubleshooting of cables and fixtures during setup.
- Assemble truss sections using pins, bolts, and hammers. Assist ground riggers with the preparation of motors, hoists, slings, and shackles. Loom and secure cables to trussing for a clean, professional appearance. Maintain a safe work perimeter during all overhead lifting operations.
Qualifications
Knowledge of entertainment lighting, sound and/or rigging. Completion of relevant coursework is preferred. Availability to work after exams (May 9th to May 18th, housing and meals for on-campus students is provided).
Work Environment
Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. The incumbent will be required to operate specialized lighting and rigging equipment. The incumbent may be exposed to varying levels of noise when operating the machines. The incumbent will be required to bend and kneel and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
