Position Summary
This season we are striving to treat 5,000 to 6000 acres of prescribed fire. We will be continuing post Hurricane Helene Recovery efforts throughout the forest. Also we will continue basic trail maintenance and clearing

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a crew member on the fire crew where they will prepare fire equipment for fire readiness, prep fire lines, and help maintain trails and rec sites
Marginal Duties
May assist in some clerical responsibilities such as prepping burn folders and preparing morning briefing materials.
Required Qualifications
Be a qualified fire fighter type II
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Having the SCA intern saw qualified would be tremendously helpful.

Living Accommodations
Government housing is not available on site but the surrounding communities do have some limited housing opportunities with short term rentals available.

The candidate is encouraged to be in good physical condition due to the arduous nature of the position. They must be able to navigate uneven mountainous terrain under load in both high and low temperature settings. The candidate will be working with multiple individuals throughout the year so a positive attitude and a strong work ethic in a team environment is encouraged
Compensation
Combined Living/Commuter Allowance: $600.00 per week (pre tax) Relocation Travel: $1,100.00 one time (pre tax) Housing Allowance: $1,000.00 per month. (pre tax)
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
