Job Title: Assistant Principal, Stuart Elementary School
General Description: Assist in providing leadership in creating and managing a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment where all students excel and staff is empowered. Provide assistance to the school principal in the overall school program.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Education and Administration
- Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision PK-12
- Three years elementary level teaching experience preferred
- Strong leadership skills with a knowledge of elementary education, curriculum, instruction, and data analysis.
Reports To: Principal
Essential Job Functions:
Assists the principal in the following:
- Supervising the school’s teaching process and curriculum design, utilizing resources from central office as necessary.
- Uses current research and data to drive vision resulting in gains in student achievement.
- Promoting and sustaining a positive school culture and rigorous instructional program that supports students and is conducive to high performance and staff growth.
- Evaluating administrative, instructional, and support personnel based on division evaluation models to ensure the retention of quality personnel.
- Initiating, designing, and implementing programs to meet specific needs of the school.
- Maintaining a positive relationship with parents, community groups, and businesses to foster understanding and solicit support for the school and school activities.
- Fostering a climate of high expectations and collaboration.
- Communicating and following School Board policies and directives from superintendent and central office.
- Ensuring continuing professional development for staff members.
- Meeting with parents to discuss and address concerns.
- Providing strong leadership for the activities supporting the Patrick County Public Schools to educational process to include establishing and maintaining a positive learning climate by ensuring proper student conduct.
- Supervising the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of student.
- Preparing or supervising the preparation of all reports, records, and required information/data.
- Preparing the school budget and monitors the expenditure of funds.
- Attends division meetings as required.
- Conducting regular staff meetings to ensure staff is updated on policies and emerging research.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
