What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Project Estimator position at Stuart & Company General Contractors, LLC?
Position requires a person who is a good communicator who is focused on work and building a career. Someone who pays attention to detail and has a sense of urgency to meet given deadlines. This person will be a key component of the Pre-Construction Department and will be responsible for preparing project estimates for executive review.
Bid Document Management
- Obtaining Bid Documents and Packages
- Review and understand scope of project
- Addenda Updates, Modification & Notifications to subcontractors
Subcontractor Solicitation
- Solicit Subcontractor Bids & Supplier Quotes
- Send Invitations to Bid to qualified subcontractors that fit project scope
- Contact approved manufacturers to obtain material pricing
Create Estimate Workbook
- List out Estimate, and mark required action items
- Perform Quantity Takeoffs
- Price self-performed items (labor, equipment, & materials)
Pre-Bid Meetings/Job Site Visits
- Attend pre-bid meetings as designated in specifications
- Document existing conditions
- Identify jobsite logistics & requirements
Pre-Bid Coordination
- Send bid RFI’s to design team for clarification
- Subcontractor scope verification
- Coordinate jobsite access/logistics/requirements with subcontractors
Composing a final estimate/bid
- Collecting subcontractor quotes
- Reviewing subcontractors scope of work ensuring no scope gaps or overlaps
- Inputting subcontractor and supplier quotes into estimate workbook
Buyout/Turnover
- Assist in final review of subcontractor & supplier quotes prior to subcontract being issued
- Assist in writing subcontracts & purchase orders
- Assist in creating Job Cost Codes
- Assist in creating Schedule of Values
- Take part in Estimating to Project Management turnover meetings
