This position will be responsible for the daily support of multiple administrative and operational functions. Primary responsibilities will be back up and administrative support to Human Resources department, with additional administrative duties as assigned.

Kansas City is home to one of Stryten Energy’s key industrial battery plants where our seasoned team is building stored energy solutions that keep the world moving. Stryten Energy , is conveniently located in the Fairfax District and has a long history of making great products for our nation, including B-25 bombers during WW2 to important industrial batteries today. We take care of our 210 employees. Our average tenure is just under 12 years and we have a proven track record of investing in your career. The position is located in Kansas City, KS and requires you to be on-site daily. It is not a remote or hybrid role.

  • Responsible for monitoring local, state and federal laws and regulations for changes that impact the site.
  • Collaborate with HQ HR team to execute changes as needed to stay in compliance.
  • Identify areas of improvement within the HR Function and lead projects to implement new processes.
  • Lead new employee recruiting and onboarding process: Pre-screen applications, request background checks, prepare and process new hire paperwork, conduct new hire orientations, and other related tasks as needed.
  • Engage in the development of hourly employees through training, coaching, and mentoring plant employees for improved performance.
  • Facilitate 30, 60, and 90 day reviews for the hourly operation employees.
  • Act as backup for Human Resources Manager, exercising discretion and independent judgment with employee related matters.
  • Provide support and resources to employees throughout the leave of absence process.
  • Perform entries, updates, and status changes of employee information in the HRIS and timekeeping systems.
  • Support management staff in accomplishing their business goals by assisting with various reports from the HRIS and analytics tools.
  • Maintain attendance records for all hourly employees. Issue and track attendance warnings as required.
  • Own the coordination and execution of employee engagement events and special meetings such as volunteer opportunities and celebrating service anniversaries.
  • Attend meetings as assigned; take, prepare, and post minutes
  • Provide general HR information to all employees based on established practices and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate employee records.
  • Interface directly with all levels of Management and employees.
  • Coordinate with staffing agencies for placement of temporary employees as needed.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks and management support as needed and assigned.
  • Support plant activities such as 5S, LPA’s, Gemba and Safety including participating in audits.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties essential to the job.

Education, Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field of study required.
  • 2-4 Years Human Resources experience as an administrator or general support.
  • 2 years experience in a Manufacturing Plant environment is a plus.

  • Good written and oral communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.)
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently, develop and follow-up on plans, and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks to support business requirements
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, handle multiple projects simultaneously, easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Understand and follow all established EHS rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Physical Demands, Environment

  • While most work will be performed in an office setting, occasional time may be required in the manufacturing facility, where additional exposure is likely.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity.
  • Noise levels in the manufacturing facility are usually high.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort.
  • Occasional light lifting may be required
  • Must be available to meet with employees who work on 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts as needed
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
