Job Summary:

The Structural Design Team Manager will lead three designers to create industry-leading structural designs, focusing exclusively on wood frame construction and integration with engineered wood and structural steel components. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in wood frame design, hands- on knowledge from framing or construction, and strong leadership skills to guide a collaborative, project-driven team in an office setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mentor three designers to produce efficient, installation-ready structural designs for wood frame projects using engineered wood and structural steel components.

• Oversee the design process, from client consultations to final deliverables, ensuring alignment with wood frame construction standards.

• Use AutoCAD and iStruct to develop and review complex wood frame designs.

• Collaborate with clients and builders to deliver innovative, cost-effective designs rooted in practical framing solutions.

• Work with the in-house structural engineer to ensure designs are reviewed, stamped, and compliant.

• Enhance design workflows with advanced tools to maintain SWS's leadership in wood frame design.

• Manage project timelines and budgets for on-time delivery.

Qualifications:

• 5 years in wood frame design or design team leadership, ideally with hands-on framing or construction experience.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and iStruct; familiarity with construction software is a plus.

• Deep knowledge of wood frame construction, engineered wood products, and structural steel integration.

• Proven ability to lead design teams and deliver high-quality wood frame projects.

• Strong client communication and project management skills, comfortable in an office environment.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus but not required; practical experience prioritized.
