Duties
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for structural steel projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
- Utilize estimation software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to develop comprehensive cost proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project scope, clarify details, and negotiate terms to secure favorable contracts.
- Conduct site visits to assess construction conditions, verify measurements, and gather on-site data to refine estimates.
- Manage cost control processes throughout the project lifecycle to ensure budgets are adhered to and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Develop pricing strategies based on market trends, material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor quotes.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive bids and ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
- Review contracts, scope of work documents, and project schedules to align estimates with contractual obligations and project timelines.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on heavy steel or structural steel projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction management practices, contract negotiations, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam for digital markup and document management; experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety protocols, and cost control methodologies.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing agreements with vendors and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation related to structural steel projects.
- Prior experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction sites is advantageous.
