This position provides leadership to engineering teams and cross-functional new product development. Our ideal candidate has a passion for designing and improving best-in-industry products.


Responsibilities

  • Product Engineering: Champion standards based on solid engineering principles to ensure products meet customer requirements and can be manufactured effectively and efficiently.
  • Product Design: Enhance existing products and launch new products with robust capability by ensuring effective processes, skilled team members and well-understood standards.
  • New Product Development (NPD): Support the New Product Development Process by ensuring technical feasibility early in the Discovery phase and applying APQP principles to the Design phase of the process. Identify design problems and eliminate project obstacles throughout the life of the project.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Working with team members and external design partners, develop rapid prototypes to make informed iterative design decisions throughout the NPD process.
  • Product Launch: Ensure new products meet customer, supply chain and manufacturing requirements. Partner with Operations to ensure launches achieve the material and labor cost targets for the project.
  • Product Costing: Ensure accurate Bills of Material and Routings. Partner with purchasing and manufacturing engineering to support costing activities as needed.
  • Leadership: Establish meeting rhythms to ensure timely and meaningful communication across the function. Establish and deploy focused plans aligned with the Annual Improvement Priorities and the Targets to Improve.
  • Engineering Standards: Ensure disciplined processes for maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs) and Routings. Maintain standards and documentation consistent with an ISO 9001-compliant Quality Management System. Develop and maintain design briefs and other mechanisms to sustain best practices.
  • Technical and Regulatory Insights: Develop disciplines for conducting effective secondary research and a deep understanding of the regulatory environment. Develop mechanisms to ensure continuous organizational learning.
  • Supply Chain Decisions: Assist purchasing with the evaluation of supplier capabilities and influence buy-build-partner decisions. Develop technical relationships with current and potential strategic supply partners.
  • Productivity Applications: Champion departmental execution of projects through tools such as the MS Office Suite to drive collaboration and transparency throughout the organization.
  • ERP & PLM: Develop processes and standards for Engineering activities and educate others to help optimize the utility of the systems. Ensure best practices and standards are documented. Ensure all team members are knowledgeable and skilled.
  • Collaborate with the Refrigeration and Product Lifecycle Management engineering teams to ensure engineering business objectives are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or other relevant field.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Management preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience in product engineering.
  • 5 years’ experience managing engineers.
  • 5 years’ experience with Stage-Gate NPD processes or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Expertise in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly.
  • Expertise in ISO Quality Management Systems, APQP and supporting tools including QFD, DFM&A, FEA, Tolerance Stack Up Analysis and FMEA.
  • CAD and PLM subject matter expert. Solidworks and Pro.File experience preferred.
  • Experience with OEM Commercial Equipment preferred, ideally in the foodservice industry.
  • Proven ability to lead change and develop talent.
  • Skilled project manager.

Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
