Job description
Structural Components Fabrication is seeking a Handrail/Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator to join our team. This position is for a highly motivated person that knows their way around steel fabrication. Applicants must be proficient with print reading, layout, and jig setup. Attention to detail and organizational skills are a must for this position.
Essential Job Functions:
- Construct steel framework, stairs, handrail and/or misc. metal in conformance with specifications for client projects including small, detailed parts as well as large-scale structural pieces
- Utilize various equipment and tools to accurately position and weld steel pieces together to form each unit and subunit
- Coordinate with the team to effectively plan and prioritize client project work
- Utilize various mechanized vehicles/devices to move project pieces throughout the workshop
- Understand weld requirements, use weld gauges where required, able to set the welder for work being welded; 14ga – 1 ¼" material thickness
- Safety first mindset
- Maintain and service equipment as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Basic understanding of structural steel fabrication; fill-in as fabricator in structural as needed
- Ability to work hand in hand with CNC operators to ensure pieces are cut accurately & efficiently.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years handrail & miscellaneous fabricating
- Mild steel tubing and pipe rail
- Picket layout
- Angled rails
- Basic geometry
- Able to read prints and a bevel
- Must be able to perform all job duties in a safe and proficient manner
- Must be able to work in a cohesive team environment
Equipment Operated:
This position will regularly operate motor vehicles including trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes. This position will use a large variety of hand and power tools including but not limited to grinders, hammers, sledgehammers, hand torches, jacks, wedges, turnbuckles, and drill presses.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, employees will remain standing throughout the workday, they will need to be able to walk, climb stairs, and occasionally ladders & scaffolding, use hands and fingers to grip, handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Employees will have regular daily lifting from 10 pounds up to 100 pounds.
