Job Summary:
The Certified Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans for residents in a skilled nursing facility. The PTA assists residents in improving daily living activities, functional independence, and overall well-being through therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans focusing on functional mobility, and therapeutic exercises.
- Document resident progress and treatment sessions accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers on adaptive techniques and equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Participate in care plan meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Comply with state and federal regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current PTA certification and state licensure in PA.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred (new graduates considered).
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles and adaptive equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach.
- CPR certification.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift/transfer residents
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching during therapy sessions.
