Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Be an advocate for best practices and influence others to be advocates for best practices on their own teams.
- Increase awareness of the larger technical picture, helping teams to understand their blind spots and how they can effectively integrate into the technical ecosystem.
- Identify opportunities for shared solutions across teams and guide successful designs and implementations.
- Able to quickly form teams to address emergent needs, solving short-term needs and ensuring the solution has long term support.
- Help to define and measure KPI’s for products and teams, championing the understanding of success based on the measurable outcomes we strive to impact.
- Lead within the department, helping other engineers grow to become effective technical leaders in their teams and across the organization.
- Influence product strategy, helping to understand the desired outcomes, identify potential opportunities and problems from a technical perspective and how they impact Roadmap decisions.
- Advocate for outcomes over implementations helping teams to connect the business value they can provide in a full customer solution rather than in individual products.
- Stay tuned into what is working in the industry and bring effective technologies and practices to the department.

- Experience designing cloud-based software solutions
- Demonstrated experience designing CI/CD systems

- Ability to balance time and attention across multiple efforts
- Technological experiences in (data architecture in relational/document databases, REST APIs, Identity / OAuth systems, distributed implementations, event/messaging Systems, data pipelines, data warehousing, N-tiered architecture, event driven design, mobile consumer apps, cloud Implementations (Azure, AWS), SAAS, 3rd party integrations, C#, Python/Django, Ruby/Rails, JS/TS)

Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Education, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7 years Software development experience preferably in a full-stack capacity
- Exceptional communication skills
- Expert knowledge of agile best practices.
- Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and with outside clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Development experience within the education industry is a plus.
