Project Forman – Commercial/Land Clearing

The Project Manager’s main focus is to oversee Strobert’s commercial and land clearing projects and field team to ensure success of all commercial/land clearing projects. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, execution, and completion of assigned commercial and land clearing projects in conformance with the standards and values of the company.

The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities

· Manages, plans, and directs all activities related to the commercial/land clearing project and provides direction and support to the field team while being present on the job site at all times.

· Execute commercial and land clearing project plans, considering staffing requirements and resource allocation, while mitigating risks in the field.

· Monitor commercial and land clearing field work to ensure projects conform to proposals, specifications, schedules, and budgets; evaluate for quality, cost, and accuracy.

· Meet or exceed all KPIs and goals as assigned.

· Oversee and participate in daily and weekly meetings for departmental and field team coordination.

· Manage contractors and subcontractors, when needed, to ensure that all work is completed on time and within budget.

· Coordinate with the appropriate vendors to source materials, supplies and equipment needed for commercial and land clearing projects.

· Ensure that all land clearing activities comply with applicable laws, regulations and safety standards.

· Monitor and report on the progress of the commercial and land clearing project to management.

· Negotiate changes or modifications when needed to the project to ensure the quality and integrity of the work.

· Coordinate with the Field Safety Manager to ensure commercial and land clearing teams are properly trained and complying with safety laws.

· Coordinate with the Fleet & Maintenance Manager to ensure all commercial and land clearing equipment is in compliance with company standards.

· Assist with the recruitment, training, hiring, and disciplinary action of all field team members under your direct supervision.

· Identify means to reduce costs, minimize risks, and increase efficiency of projects.

· Assist in troubleshooting daily problems as they occur.

· Purchase or rent equipment for projects as needed.

· Work with confidential information and understand the critical nature of privacy.

Skills

· Must have at minimum 10 years’ experience operating the following equipment:

o Track mounted feller bunchers with leveling system and hot saw head

o Excavator

o Hydro ax

o Ariel lifts

o Whole tree chippers

o Horizonal wood grinders

o Dual arch and grapple skidder

o Chain saw

o Stump sheer

o Dozer

· Working on 1 to 1 slopes

· Managing construction or tree crews

· Tree species identification

Qualifications

· Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent years’ experience in Construction Management, Engineering or related field.

· Minimum of 10 years of tree service or construction foreman experience.

· Must have valid CDL driver’s license and excellent safety and driving record.

· In-depth knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in the tree service industry.

· Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, judgment, decision-making, and negotiation skills.

· Leadership abilities to motivate personnel within the tree service or construction field.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with high professionalism.

· Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

· Comfortable with heights.

· Able to travel up 60% of the time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $125,000.00 per year
