Description
The EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant safety operation of construction and fabrication projects performed by Strobel Energy Group. This position is for a permanent career position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the EHS practices to ensure WORKER HEALTH, SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT CONTROLS are being effectively implemented in the field.
- Lead, train, and develop staff.
- Ensure customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance and operational excellence are being achieved in the environmental, safety, and health realms.
- When requested, participate in customer meetings to build relationships and bridge expectations.
- Maintain and develop safety culture among all employees.
- Participate in and promote corporate initiatives.
- Ensure that employees receive the proper safety training to perform their jobs.
- Routine interface with supervision, engineering, human resources, and other site support teams.
- Provide advanced first aid support to field and shop staff.
- Travel 30-50% to field locations for safety support.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or four years equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive background in heavy civil and industrial construction and safety
- Demonstrated safety competency in: excavation, scaffolding, mobile cranes, work at height, electrical safety, confined spaces, hot work, and hazardous materials
- Demonstrated health competency in: first aid, heat stress management, workers compensation management, and toxic gas detection.
- Demonstrated environmental competency in stormwater management, spill prevention and control, air emissions during construction, and solid waste management.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills for a multifaceted work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication
- Detail oriented and customer focused.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational problems.
- Familiar with applicable Federal, State and Local EHS regulatory agency requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.
- Board certification as a CSP, ASP, or CHST is preferred but not required for position.
- Must be able to see well enough to read gauges, precision measuring instruments, schematics, maintenance manuals as needed.
- Must be able to talk and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others within the company 100% of the time.
- Must be able to reach with arms and hands to perform inspection, maintenance and repair duties when needed.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat 100%.
- Must be able to use hands to grasp, handle, and feel 100%.
- Must be able to climb and balance well enough to mount equipment by climbing up and down steps as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
