Job Description: We are looking for a passionate and dedicated in-person literacy tutor with expertise in Orton-Gillingham instructional methods to support students in developing strong reading skills. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of teaching experience and a strong commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group reading instruction to students of various ages and reading levels.
- Utilize Orton-Gillingham methods and other evidence-based techniques to develop personalized learning plans for each student.
- Assess students' reading abilities and create tailored lesson plans to address their specific needs and challenges.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment to enhance students' confidence and motivation.
- Track and report on students' progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide feedback on students' performance and progress.
- Stay current on best practices in reading instruction and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Orton-Gillingham training or certification is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably with a focus on reading instruction.
- Strong knowledge of various reading assessments and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on an individual level.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a consistent tutoring schedule.
Job Type: Contract
