Accounting firm that has provided over 35 years of quality and personalized accounting services has an opening for a highly motived full-time Bookkeeper who specializes in payroll to add to our growing team. Responsibilities include managing multiple clients concurrently, assisting clients with accounting, payroll , payroll tax filings, sales tax filings, data entry, reconciliations, and establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients by communicating clearly and professionally.
Payroll Processing
- Coordinate with client to ensure timely and accurate delivery of employee and payroll data.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws.
- Maintains up-to-date client information in Company systems, including payroll instructions.
- Provide accurate reports and instructions if necessary to clients in a timely manner.
- Accurately process payrolls, update spreadsheets, prepare all governmental reporting of weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly payrolls and monthly IDES reporting,
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Tax Reporting
- Process the timely and accurate completion of reports and all required data for payroll tax reporting.
- Provide data and support documentation to supervisor for review before finalizing payroll tax returns.
- Maintain payroll tax files, records and spreadsheet.
- Process the timely and accurate completion of sales tax reporting.
Bookkeeping
- Work closely with Staff Accountant to process the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reports.
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Record daily financial transactions and/or verify transactions are recorded correctly.
- Accounts payables
Other Duties as Needed
- Responds to client inquiries and questions as necessary.
- Correspond with tax agencies in writing and verbally as necessary.
- Prepares materials and is point of contact for worker's compensation audits.
Educational and experience requirements include:
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Accounting or an equivalent level of training/experience.
- QuickBooks experience preferred but not required.
- Relevant experience in preparing payroll or accounting role, preferably in a related industry
- Broad knowledge of payroll accounting.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Above average written and oral communication skills to interact with clients, vendors and internal team.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
