Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position located in East Providence, RI at Strides Academy, a private special education school. The Special Education Teacher for grades 6, 7, and 8 will deliver tailored instruction to students with diverse needs, ensuring that educational goals are achieved. Responsibilities include creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with colleagues and families, adapting classroom materials for accessibility, and fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The teacher will also assess student progress, provide regular communication with families, and uphold the principles of individualized and family-centered education.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Special Education and experience working with students with disabilities
- Teaching expertise in middle school curriculum and strategies for grades 6, 7, and 8
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, colleagues, and support staff
- Ability to create and implement IEPs and track student progress
- Relevant certifications for Special Education or teaching, as per state requirements
- Patience, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom
- A bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field is required
