Job description:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources department for approximately 85 employees. This position serves as a resource to employees and managers on a broad range of HR matters, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, employee relations, training, compliance, performance management, and maintenance of personnel records.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Administers the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources department.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents required compliance and safety training, including new hire training.
  • DOT Compliance Experience: Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and DOT compliance requirements as they relate to workforce management, experience maintaining and auditing Driver Qualification (DQ) files, including licenses, medical certifications, and required documentation, familiarity with DOT drug and alcohol testing programs, including pre-employment, random, and post-accident testing, experience supporting DOT recordkeeping requirements, ensuring documentation is accurate and audit-ready, knowledge of background checks, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) reviews, and driver eligibility requirements.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Partners with department managers to understand staffing needs, position requirements, skills, and competencies.
  • Coordinates pre-employment processes, including background checks, drug screens, and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Conducts new hire onboarding orientation.
  • Coordinates employee recognition and engagement reviews.
  • Administers employee benefits, compensation, leave programs, disciplinary documentation, and related employee inquiries.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential employee personnel records and HR files.
  • Serves as a resource to employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, leave, and other employment related questions.
  • Supports management and employees with employee relations matters, workplace concerns, investigations, and escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and recent technologies in human resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of human resource experience.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or other relevant HR certification preferred.

Pay: $58,500.00 - $70,000.00 per year
