Qualifications
- Previous professional automotive technician experience
- Volkswagen experience and/or factory training
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to efficiently complete repairs in a flat-rate environment
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Own professional hand tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- We are willing to consider technicians at different experience levels. Pay will be determined based on technical experience, diagnostic ability, training, certifications, and overall qualifications.
- Must have completed a post-secondary training program in automotive service technology; associate degree a plus
- Strong customer service and communications skills are needed
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, or ASE certification is strongly desired
- Perform accurate diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of Volkswagen vehicles
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics
- Complete manufacturer-recommended maintenance and inspections
- Identify additional vehicle concerns and communicate findings clearly
- Follow Volkswagen repair procedures, specifications, and safety guidelines
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and diagnostic findings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Work cooperatively with service advisors, parts personnel, technicians, and management
- Maintain a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and first-time-quality repairs
- Operate diagnostic equipment to accurately determine the cause of malfunction codes with the vehicle’s integrated computer system
- Examine all vehicle systems such as the air conditioning, engine, transmission, and brake systems with a step-by-step approach
- Perform routine maintenance, as needed, like checking fluid levels, rotating tires, and oil changes
- Help establish service protocols for tracking the status of repairs, maintaining relevant technical manuals, using charts, and more for all of our dealerships
- Clearly articulate automotive repair issues and repairs needed to remedy them to both customers and auto mechanics
