POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Property Accountant II is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements (cash and accrual) on assigned Office, Industrial and Retail projects. The role works closely with Property Managers to complete monthly reporting packages which are submitted to our Clients. Property assignments are based on the employee’s experience level and product type currently managed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years related accounting/reporting experience.
- Demonstrated quantitative analytical and accounting skills commensurate with experience level.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Listens with comprehension. Asks questions for clarification.
- Self-motivation and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to take initiative in solving routine problems, but includes manager or supervisor in more complex issues /or problems.
- Real estate experience a plus.
- Knowledge of various accounting software; Yardi and MRI preferred.
- Intermediate competence in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s degree. Masters’ Degree Preferred. Accounting classes and experience required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide internal and external reporting of multiple Projects’ financial results.
- Prepare internal and external reporting packages, working with property management to analyze financial performance and develop reports.
- Support the annual budgeting process and expense reconciliation preparation through review of data.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc analysis and reporting.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
- Effectively communicate with manager or supervisor regarding deadlines, complex issues, and processes and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of monthly financial statement packages which include the following: income statement, property manager variance comment review, general ledger review, fixed asset depreciation and amortization roll-forwards, bank statement reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations, and the creation and posting of the journal entries recorded to the general ledger.
- Frequent communication and interaction with property management team, and some limited interaction with Client(s).
- Preparation and submission of Sales & Use Tax returns, as applicable.
- Project cash management; Ensure critical timely payment of utilities, taxes, mortgages and owner distributions.
- Review and posting of cash receipts, and the review and processing of vendor invoices for payment.
- Ensure compliance with SOC I requirements for self and property management team.
- Other duties as assigned.
