We are seeking an energetic, outgoing and friendly Host or Hostess to join our team at Strayhorn Grill. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for guests, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. Your enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, and ability to manage guest flow will ensure our guests feel valued and comfortable from the moment they arrive. Duties
- Greet guests with a friendly smile and positive attitude, providing a warm welcome upon arrival
- Manage reservations and seating arrangements efficiently using our restaurant POS system
- Maintain an organized waitlist and communicate wait times clearly to guests
- Assist with guest inquiries over the phone, as well as taking to-go orders over the phone. This part of the job requires excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth seating flow and timely service
- Keep the host stand area clean, organized, and well-stocked with menus and promotional materials
- Support guest relations by addressing questions or concerns promptly and professionally
Skills
- Prior experience as a host or hostess is a plus, but not required
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Familiarity with restaurant POS systems is a plus, but not required. Basic computer skills are required.
- Knowledge of food service operations and hospitality standards
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Experience with guest services, serving, or hotel-related guest relations is a plus
- Professional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills to enhance guest interactions
