We are seeking an experienced and strategic Major Gift and Capital Campaign Consultant to join our team on a contract basis. As part of a mission-driven nonprofit services firm, you will work closely with a diverse portfolio of nonprofit clients to lead or support annual giving and/or major gift fundraising and capital campaign initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of donor engagement strategies, fundraising planning and execution, and high-level client communication.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated fundraising professional with a proven track record of securing and managing fundraising campaigns. Responsibilities will likely include campaign feasibility studies, donor pipeline development, case for support creation, and providing strategic counsel to leadership teams and development staff. Consultants should be adept at working independently while delivering high-quality, data-driven guidance and support. Successful grant writing skills is preferred.
This is a flexible, remote contractor position for someone in the Orange County area or Los Angeles/San Diego area, ideal for a consultant with existing nonprofit experience. The candidate may have already served as a nonprofit consultant or may have nonprofit leadership or fundraising experience. Compensation is commensurate with experience and project scope. Duties
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Implement strategic planning initiatives that align with the organization’s mission and objectives.
- Consultants will guide nonprofits according to fundraising plans. Consultants will likely oversee or accomplish the following scope of work as agreed with clients:
- Conduct research to identify potential funding sources and grant opportunities.
- Write compelling grant proposals and funding requests to secure financial support.
- Oversee digital marketing efforts, including email marketing campaigns using platforms like Mailchimp.
- Consult on budgets for fundraising initiatives and monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with financial goals.
- Collaborate with volunteers ensuring effective volunteer management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or related fields.
- Strong skills in fundraising, public relations, marketing, and event planning.
- Familiarity with grant proposal writing and budgeting processes.
- Excellent donor relationship skills with a focus on relationship management.
- Knowledge of wills, trusts & estate law is a plus.
- Proficiency in databases and CRM software.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and ability to collaborate with nonprofit leaders.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $36.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 35 per week
