Preventative Maintenance Technician - Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration

Strause Refrigeration, Inc. is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our growing team in Toledo, Ohio.

For 60 years, Strause Refrigeration has provided commercial refrigeration and HVAC installation, service, and repair throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Our work is heavily focused on commercial, industrial, and supermarket refrigeration and HVAC systems.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual who is interested in building a career in commercial refrigeration and HVAC.

Previous industry experience is not required, but experience in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical work, maintenance, construction, or another skilled trade is encouraged.

This position will primarily perform scheduled preventative maintenance and cleaning on commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment at customer locations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment
• Clean condenser and evaporator coils
• Replace HVAC filters and belts
• Clean ice machines and other commercial refrigeration equipment
• Inspect equipment for visible wear, damage, leaks, or other potential problems
• Check and record equipment temperatures and operating conditions
• Perform basic equipment maintenance according to company procedures and manufacturer recommendations
• Identify potential equipment issues and communicate findings to the Service Department
• Complete service documentation accurately and thoroughly
• Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned company vehicle
• Keep customer work areas clean and professional
• Assist experienced service technicians when needed
• Follow company and customer safety procedures
• Participate in company-provided training and development

Qualifications

Previous experience in HVAC, refrigeration, maintenance, electrical work, mechanical repair, construction, or skilled trade is encouraged but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently after proper training
• Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools
• Willingness to learn commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment
• Ability to safely use ladders and work on rooftops when required
• Ability to lift and carry tools, filters, equipment, and other materials
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Training & Career Development

This position is intended to provide an opportunity to learn the commercial refrigeration and HVAC industry while performing preventative maintenance work.

Training will include equipment identification, preventative maintenance procedures, proper cleaning techniques, basic refrigeration and HVAC fundamentals, safety procedures, and customer service.

Employees who demonstrate strong mechanical ability, dependability, and an interest in advancing may have opportunities to receive additional technical training and develop toward a Commercial Refrigeration & HVAC Service Technician position.

Employees are paid weekly.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday.

Work is performed at commercial customer locations throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Some early morning start times may be required depending on customer schedules and preventative maintenance needs.
