Material Handler/Shipping Assistant

Straus Knitting Mills located in St. Croix Falls WI is seeking a Material Handler/Shipping Assistant. The hours are Monday through Thursday 6AM to 4:30PM.

You’ll have a half hour lunch and two paid breaks per shift. Once you’ve completed 90 days you’ll be eligible for healthcare insurance along with dental insurance. We’ll give you eight paid holidays along with four annual paid sick days. You can earn $250.00 a quarter and an additional $1,000.00 for a year in a perfect attendance bonus. There is also a $500.00 employee of the month bonus and by being awarded employee of the month. At one year of full-time employment you’ll receive a week of paid vacation and a 401(k) investment opportunity with a match.

The job description is below but this job also includes shipping responsibilities when the Shipper is out. Previous knowledge of shipping via trucks, UPS, FedEx and others is helpful but not required. Also, computer skills will be needed.

SCOPE OF JOB: Assists in general operation of Warehouse and backs up the Shipper.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.) Unloads raw material from trucks.

2.) Physically puts yarn and stock on location and delivers yarn to knitting floor.

3.) Hauls return-to-stock (RTS) yarn back to warehouse.

4.) Delivers knit fabric to its appropriate location during work in process.

5.) Exchanges and moves stock as needed.

6.) Hauls trash to dumpster.

7.) Delivers cans, bags, etc. to departments.

8.) Delivers incoming UPS, Fed-Ex, etc. packages to appropriate departments.

9.) Performs backwinding.

10.) Responsible for sweeping and general housekeeping of warehouse and assists

11.) Will weigh, palletize and record finished product for the Medical Dept.

12.) Hauls pallets to appropriate area.

13.) Hauls cardboard to recycle bin.

14.) Gathers and relays cycle count information as requested to the Materials

Manager.

15.) Backup for Shipper in shipping

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1.) Must have good organizational skills.

2.) Must be able to maintain the Warehouse and stock systems with accuracy.

3.) Must work well with other departments.

4.) Must have a sense of urgency.

5.) Must be truthful and direct in communications.

6.) Must have timely and accurate completion of all projects.

7.) Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

8.) Must be able to haul from truck 360 pounds per load constantly for up to 2 hours.

9.) Must be able to lift 70 pounds frequently.

10.) Must be able to push or pull cases of yarn and stock weighing up to 300

pounds with a pallet jack.

11.) Constant standing, walking, reaching and pulling.

12.) Must be able to work in above and below normal temperatures and humidity.

13.) Must have legible handwriting.

14.) Must be able to be certified to drive fork lift.

15.) Must have excellent attendance.
