The Role
The Project Architect is responsible for overseeing the design and development of architectural projects, focusing on technical accuracy and client requirements. This role involves leading the preparation of construction documents, managing design teams, and ensuring project alignment with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of design solutions from initial concept through design development, ensuring that designs meet client expectations, budget constraints, and are technically sound.
- Prepare detailed construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Coordinate the work of consultants, contractors, and internal design teams to integrate various aspects of a project, including mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
- Manage project schedules and timelines, tracking milestones and ensuring timely completion of deliverables while managing project budgets and resources.
- Conduct on-site inspections to ensure construction follows the approved plans and specifications, addressing any discrepancies and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Serve as a key liaison between clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure that all parties are aligned and project goals are being met.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, helping them to improve their skills and understanding of the architectural process.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including building permits, zoning laws, and sustainability certifications, such as LEED or WELL.
- Proficiency in architectural software (AutoCAD, Revit) for design and construction documentation.
- Excellent technical drafting and detailing skills for accurate construction documents.
- Ability to review and interpret complex technical drawings from consultants.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 7-10 years of professional experience in architecture
- Experience in managing mid-sized projects across various sectors (e.g., commercial, institutional).
