Primary Essential Functions
- Assist in preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Support calculations for grading, drainage, utilities, and site layouts.
- Conduct research, collect data, and assist with fieldwork as needed.
- Assist in reviewing project documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project staff to support project goals.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with clients and colleagues, including cross-functional teams, peers, direct reports, and leadership, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Adapt to changing business needs and priorities, demonstrating flexibility in taking on new responsibilities and adjusting to evolving challenges.
Knowledge
- Foundational knowledge of civil engineering principles.
- Awareness of site development, utilities, and transportation systems.
- Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic drafting tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to learn new tools and methods quickly.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a deadline-driven setting.
Required
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
- Basic proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in civil engineering.
- Exposure to Civil 3D or other design software.
- Involvement in engineering-related student organizations or competitions.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
- Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, telephones, and printers.
- Occasional light physical activity such as walking, standing, or carrying materials (up to 25 lbs.).
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and through written communication.
