Data Project Manager

Stratus is seeking an experienced P&C Project Manager to lead a critical technology transformation initiative, the decommissioning of legacy mainframe systems and the implementation of a modern data warehouse, data modules, and enterprise-wide data strategy. This role will be pivotal in ensuring a smooth transition, minimizing risk, and enabling the organization to leverage data more effectively for business insights and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Mainframe Decommissioning
  • Develop and execute a detailed project plan for retiring legacy mainframe systems.
  • Coordinate with IT, business units, and vendors to ensure seamless migration of applications and data.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies to minimize disruption.
  • Oversee data migration, validation, and archival processes.
• Data Warehouse Implementation
  • Lead the design and deployment of a scalable, cloud-based data warehouse solution.
  • Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and analysts to define requirements and ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Establish governance frameworks for data quality, security, and compliance.
• Data Modules & Strategy
  • Partner with stakeholders to design modular data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced use cases.
  • Define and implement a long-term data strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Promote best practices in data management, integration, and accessibility.
• Project Leadership
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources across multiple workstreams.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Provide regular updates, dashboards, and reports on project progress and outcomes.
  • Drive change management initiatives to ensure adoption of new systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (Master s preferred).
• Proven experience (7 years) managing large-scale IT transformation projects, ideally involving mainframe decommissioning and data warehouse implementations.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security frameworks.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification preferred.
