Position Overview
The BIM Project Coordinator leads the planning, execution, and delivery of coordinated mechanical models and fabrication-ready drawings across multiple projects. This position bridges design and field operations by managing 3D coordination, model accuracy, and deliverables for prefabrication and installation.
The BIM Project Coordinator supervises VDC Technicians and collaborates with Project Managers, Engineers, and Field Superintendents to ensure projects are modeled, coordinated, and delivered efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead production of coordinated, fabrication-ready models for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
· Manage model standards, version control, and quality assurance across project teams
· Conduct and facilitate clash detection using Navisworks Manage or similar software
· Oversee coordination meetings and track resolution of model issues across trades
· Generate shop drawings, spools, and hanger layouts directly from Revit or Fabrication CADmep models
· Support prefabrication by aligning model content with shop workflows and standard assemblies
· Create and manage layout point files for field installation using Trimble or total station technology
· Maintain BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud project environments, permissions, and file structure
· Provide model-based data for estimating, scheduling, and as-built documentation
· Train and mentor VDC Technicians on modeling workflows, standards, and best practices
Required Qualifications
· 7 years of BIM/VDC experience in the mechanical contracting or MEP industry
· Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (MEP) and Navisworks Manage
· Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems, components, and installation methods
· Experience generating fabrication drawings and coordinating with prefabrication teams
· Working knowledge of total station layout and laser scanning workflows
· Proven ability to lead coordination meetings and resolve multi-trade model conflicts
· Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to accuracy and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
· Autodesk Certified Professional: Revit for MEP
· Experience with Fabrication CADmep, Bluebeam Revu, and point cloud registration (Leica, Trimble, or Faro)
· Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360), Procore, or similar coordination platforms
· OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification

Work setting: Office-based with regular field coordination visits
