Duties
- Operate and interpret signals from underground utility locating equipment to accurately identify the position of underground utilities during horizontal drilling projects
- Assist drill operators by providing precise location data to prevent damage to existing infrastructure
- Conduct thorough site inspections, including visual checks of excavation areas and surrounding environments
- Use heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks to prepare sites and support drilling operations
- Maintain detailed records of locate signals, equipment usage, and site conditions for project documentation and safety compliance
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure all activities adhere to safety protocols and project timelines
- Support the setup and breakdown of construction sites, including the operation of construction vehicles like Caterpillar equipment and water trucks
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction site operations with familiarity in horizontal drilling or utility installation projects
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and tankers
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience operating various types of heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and procedures
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret locate signals accurately
- Hands-on experience with horizontal directional drilling technology is highly preferred
- Knowledge of Caterpillar machinery operations is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and site personnel
