WHAT IS THE JOB?

We are hiring Direct Support Staff to work one-on-one with an adult who has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability. This individual we support lives in the greater Sacramento area and is looking for active, engaging staff to support him in his daily activities as well as to help him interact with his community.

The person we support is looking for patient staff who excel at providing verbal prompts during daily activities and who will support them both inside and outside of their home. They are active in the LGBTQA community and loves getting out during the weekend – they are NOT a homebody, they want to engage with their community!

They are also looking for someone who can give them direction and support in the kitchen because they LOVE cooking and food! All of our Direct Support Staff provide direction and hands-on support with any and all needs our clients have, but the Direct Support Staff is not a butler! The goal is for our clients to engage in all parts of their lives, and the Direct Support Staff is responsible for making sure that even though our clients may need someone to help them with eating, cleaning, bathing, or toileting, that they themselves are still taking part in those activities!

SCHEDULE

We are hiring for several schedules, including:

Monday-Friday 2p-10p

Friday 10p-Sunday 10p (a 48-hour weekend, which is staffed every-other weekend)

The rate of pay for asleep nocturnal hours is $16.50 per hour. The rate of pay for awake hours is $17.50 per hour.

Some of the individuals we support receive In-Home Support Services hours (IHSS), which may be assigned to staff working at Strategies to Empower People. IHSS is a separate company with their own pay rate based on county: Sacramento County is $18.75 per hour, Yuba County is $17.90 per hour, Sutter County is $17.35 per hour, and Placer County is $18.10 per hour.

LOCATION

Our Direct Support Staff provide support in the Greater Sacramento area. Direct Support Staff work in the home and in the community of the person they're supporting, so the work is done... where our clients live and play! Often times the job will take our staff and their clients outside of the home and community: Client has a goal of going to a comedy club? Today we're working in Old Sacramento! Client wants to visit the Farmer's Market? Today we're on the bus headed for Midtown!

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Our Direct Support Staff position is entry-level which means you don't need experience in order to be considered for it! While a background in caregiving and direct care work is definitely a plus we provide comprehensive training for all of our new hires so everyone has the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

The schedules we are interviewing for may require driving which means staff may need to provide a valid California Driver License, current auto insurance, and have a clean & reliable vehicle.
