WHAT IS THE JOB?
The Enhanced Direct Support Professional works one-on-one with an adult who has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability who also needs experienced staff to support with consistent, intensive medical conditions as well as behavioral challenges.
The Enhanced Direct Support Professional provides direction and hands-on support with any and all needs our clients have, but the Enhanced Direct Support Professionals are not butlers! The goal is for our clients to engage in all parts of their lives, and the Enhanced Direct Support Professional is responsible for making sure that even though our clients may need someone to help them with eating, cleaning, bathing, or toileting, that they themselves are still taking part in those activities! Even though our clients may have intensive medical, mental health and behavioral needs doesn't mean they cannot live independent lives!
SCHEDULE
Enhanced Direct Support Professionals are hired with specific set schedules, which makes planning the rest of your life around work easier! The people we support need 24/7 care so we have a variety of full-time schedules.
The rate of pay for the Enhanced Direct Support Professional position ranges between $23 to $27 per hour dependent upon verifiable, related experience with medical supports. This information is reviewed during the application and interview process by our Human Resources team.
LOCATION
Our Enhanced Direct Support Professionals provide support in the greater Sacramento -- the work is done in the home and in the community of the person they're supporting. One of the biggest goals is making sure that our clients' medical challenges don't stop them from engaging with their community!
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Our Enhanced Direct Support Position requires at least six months of verifiable experience working with any population demonstrating Intensive Medical Conditions and/or co-occurring mental health or behavioral needs. Experience beyond six months is reviewed in relation to wage offered.
Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or similar position is a huge benefit!
The Enhanced Direct Support Professional position also requires staff to drive which means we require a valid California Driver License, current auto insurance, and clean & reliable vehicle.
Aside from the nuts and bolts of the job we are looking for energetic staff who base THEIR success on the success of others. Patience, adaptability and creativity are musts for this position – maintaining a positive attitude and not being afraid to advocate for the clients we support is important!
