Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometrist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans. This role requires a strong foundation in ophthalmology, patient care, and medical record management, with a focus on delivering exceptional service to diverse patient populations. The Optometrist will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal ocular health and patient satisfaction.
Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques
- Assess visual acuity and prescribe corrective lenses or vision therapy as needed
- Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options
- Perform vital signs assessments and utilize aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases
- Assist in patient education regarding medication use, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care
- Handle medical coding accurately for billing purposes
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive patient experience
Experience
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice preferred; optical experience is a plus
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management
- Experience working with pediatric patients is desirable
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
- Prior experience in medical coding and billing processes is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and patient engagement
