Job description
Strategic Technology Institute is seeking highly motivated and skilled Systems Support Specialists to provide technical and engineering support for the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) and Global Command and Control System – Maritime (GCCS-M) aboard U.S. Navy surface ships and aircraft carriers. The selected candidates will work on-site at MARMC and be responsible for troubleshooting, evaluating, repairing, and supporting mission-critical Navy C4I systems.
Key Responsibilities: CANES (AN/USQ-208) Systems Support :
- Provide onboard Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to assess, identify, and correct system faults in CANES and associated systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on CANES hardware and software, including laptops, workstations, and networked systems.
- Support related systems including:
- NTCSS/NIAPS
- Host-Based Security System (HBSS)
- Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
- System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
- Blade Center and VTC systems
- Identify and resolve anomalies in installation, maintenance, connectivity, and operational use.
- Provide onboard training and distance support (email, chat, phone) to ship’s force.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on:
- AN/USQ-187 GCCS-M 4.1.1
- AN/USQ-172 GCCS-M 4.0
- AN/USQ-119 GCCS-M 4.1.5
- AN/USQ-151 Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT)
- AN/USQ-188 Radiant Mercury
- Passive Link Tap (PLT)
- Provide FTA onboard and remote support to resolve system casualties and assist in system assessments.
- Deliver onboard technical training to improve operational readiness of ship personnel.
- Maintain and update CASREP and FTA status in relevant databases (e.g., FTS).
- Submit written reports and TAVR worksheet data post-FTA visit.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience (within the last 3 years) with CANES systems, including assessment, troubleshooting, and repair of:
- AN/USQ-208 CANES
- Experience with any of the following systems is highly desirable:
- Red Hat/Linux
- EMC Storage/Backup Solutions
- ACAS
- WSUS
- SCCM
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience (within the last 3 years) with GCCS-M variants listed above.
- Experience gained at MOTU, FTSC, or RMC is a plus!
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance.
- Strong diagnostic, technical writing, and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel locally and onboard ships as needed.
- Experience with Navy FTA and CASREP procedures highly preferred.
