About the Opportunity
Strategic Technology Institute (STi) is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Keyport Test & Evaluation Department.
This position supports the repair, maintenance, testing, and operational readiness of Navy undersea systems, unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), MK30 target systems, and associated mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment. The role also supports environmental testing activities, engineering evaluations, and quality assurance efforts critical to Fleet readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
- Support depot-level repair and refurbishment of MK30 target systems and related equipment
- Assist with UUV systems, underwater tracking equipment, and associated support hardware
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Support environmental testing including vibration, shock, thermal, and humidity testing
- Assist engineers with test setup, execution, and data collection
- Build, repair, and maintain cables, fixtures, and test support equipment
- Complete maintenance documentation, test records, and technical reports
- Support quality assurance processes, audits, and compliance requirements
- Assist with inventory control, equipment tracking, and material handling
- Support waterfront, laboratory, and shop operations as required
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship
- Associate degree or equivalent technical training/experience
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, maintenance, or engineering technician experience
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex systems and equipment
- Strong technical documentation and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to work in laboratory, shop, and waterfront environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Navy, DoD, or defense industry experience
- Experience supporting test and evaluation programs
- Environmental testing experience (vibration, shock, temperature, humidity)
- Cable fabrication and repair experience
- Experience with UUV, torpedo, acoustic, or undersea warfare systems
- Quality Assurance or production control experience
Work Location
- Onsite – NUWC Keyport, Washington
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Occasional extended hours during test events may be required
Security Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance required
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $30.40 - $32.50 per hour
