Job Summary

We are seeking up to three detail-oriented IT Technicians/Engineers to support a large-scale Cisco switch integration and staging project at our Integration Center in Lenexa, KS.

The project involves processing approximately 2,600 Cisco switches across two different models. Technicians will be responsible for unboxing, rack installation, cabling, documenting equipment information, and preparing the switches for shipment to customer locations throughout the United States.

Attention to detail and strict adherence to established processes are critical to the success of this project.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and carefully unbox Cisco network switches.
• Verify equipment against the assigned work order/inventory documentation.
• Record and verify serial numbers, model numbers, asset information, and other required equipment details.
• Rack-mount Cisco switches according to the provided installation procedures.
• Connect required power cables and one network cable.
• Ensure equipment is properly positioned, labeled, and connected before remote configuration.
• Coordinate with remote network engineers while they perform switch configuration.
• Follow all staging and integration procedures exactly as provided.
• After remote configuration is completed, safely power down, disconnect, un-rack, and repackage switches.
• Verify documentation is complete and accurate before equipment is boxed.
• Prepare equipment for shipment to customer locations throughout the U.S.
• Maintain accurate tracking of equipment throughout the entire staging process.
• Report any discrepancies, damaged equipment, missing components, or documentation issues immediately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with Cisco network equipment preferred.
• Basic understanding of network switches, cabling, and rack-mounted equipment.
• Experience with IT hardware staging, deployment, data center, integration center, or warehouse IT operations preferred.
• Ability to read and follow detailed technical procedures and checklists.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when documenting serial numbers and equipment information.
• Comfortable performing repetitive hardware staging activities while maintaining accuracy.
• Basic computer skills and ability to update spreadsheets or inventory/documentation systems.
• Ability to safely lift, move, rack, un-rack, and package IT equipment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Critical Success Factors

The ideal technician must be extremely detail-oriented and process-driven. Accuracy is more important than simply completing the work quickly.

Technicians must:

• Follow the established process without skipping steps.
• Accurately document every switch.
• Double-check serial numbers and model information.
• Maintain accurate equipment-to-documentation tracking.
• Properly cable and rack equipment.
• Ensure every switch is correctly prepared for shipment.
• Immediately escalate discrepancies or issues.

Equipment

Approximately 2,600 Cisco switches, consisting of two different models, will be processed and shipped to customer locations across the United States.

Ideal Candidate

A strong candidate will have hands-on IT hardware experience and be comfortable working in a structured staging/integration environment. Cisco experience is preferred, but candidates with strong rack-and-stack, hardware deployment, cabling, inventory tracking, and process-driven IT experience may also be considered.

High attention to detail, accurate documentation, and strict adherence to the process are the most important requirements for this role.
