Summary

As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring Strategic Security Corp. maintains full regulatory compliance across all operational areas including employee licensing, subcontractor qualifications, company registrations, equipment accountability, and regulatory agency requirements.

This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills to manage compliance processes that support SSC’s operations nationwide. The Compliance Lead works closely with internal leadership, regulatory agencies, vendors, and field management to ensure all licensing, insurance, and training requirements remain current and in good standing.

Primary responsibilities include managing state licensing records, conducting compliance audits, overseeing firearms and equipment documentation, coordinating regulatory filings, and maintaining secure administrative records. The Compliance Lead also supervises compliance staff and assists with internal training and regulatory reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Licensing

  • Conduct routine compliance checks for employee licensing, training records, subcontractor credentials, and company registrations
  • Ensure SSC maintains valid licenses, insurance, and bonds in every state where operations occur
  • Verify new hires are properly registered with applicable state licensing agencies
  • Monitor employee license renewals and ensure continued compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance documentation for training certifications and contract-specific requirements
  • Remove terminated employees from applicable state licensing databases when necessary
  • Assist with regulatory audits and agency communications

Compliance Administration

Maintain secure files and records to protect confidential information

  • Prepare and process compliance documentation including letters, policies, procedures, and regulatory forms
  • Provide administrative support to insurance brokers and state licensing agencies
  • Maintain digital compliance records within SSC’s internal systems and FTP site
  • Assist operational leadership by communicating regulatory requirements and compliance updates
  • Work independently and collaboratively on compliance initiatives and projects

Equipment & Inventory Compliance

Oversee SSC equipment accountability including radios, vehicles, and electronic equipment

  • Track gas cards and monitor appropriate usage for company vehicles
  • Maintain accurate firearm documentation and conduct equipment compliance checks
  • Ensure employees assigned firearms have completed required training and documentation
  • Administer firearm-related documentation including:
    • Use of Force Policy
    • Firearms Safety documentation
    • Youth Handgun Safety Act pamphlet acknowledgement
    • ATF Gun Control Questionnaire
    • Safe transport and storage procedures for SSC-issued firearms
    • Firearms receipt and acknowledgement documentation

Team Leadership & Coordination

Train and oversee the Assistant Compliance Assistant

  • Coordinate support with Account Managers and Operations personnel to maintain regulatory compliance across all sites
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with regulatory agencies, employees, and vendors
  • Communicate operational compliance information to field leadership including Majors and Lieutenants
Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in compliance, regulatory administration, licensing management, security operations, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple compliance tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and database systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated professionalism, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must pass background screening and other pre-employment requirements as permitted by law
  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment in all compliance matters

Work Environment

This position operates  in a professional office environment located in Smithtown, NY. Work includes extended periods of computer use, document management, and coordination with internal departments and regulatory agencies.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
