What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer/Editor: Pedestrian Safety Regional Summits position at Strategic Results?
This is a pre-award contract position for an upcoming requirement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA is an operating mode of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). Its mission is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce traffic-related health care and other economic costs.
The purpose of this project is to convene a summit in each of the ten (10) NHTSA regions for pedestrian safety stakeholders, law enforcement, members of the court system, State Highway Safety Offices (SHSO), and each NHTSA Regional Office to discuss the pedestrian safety problem, current traffic safety trends and emerging issues and possible solutions.
During this summit, emerging pedestrian safety strategies will be identified and highlighted consistent with NHTSA and U.S. DOT priorities. Stakeholder collaboration and knowledge sharing will be facilitated. The summits will assist States and communities in their efforts to make pedestrian safety a priority by presenting a range of pedestrian safety countermeasures, pedestrian safety partners and stakeholders, data collection and evaluation methods, evidence-based practices, and community engagement.
Position Requirements
- A technical writer assimilates, prepares and conveys complex, technical information in a clear and concise manner that is understandable to a wider, non-technical audience.
- A technical writer has expertise in communicating technical material through different media and applications, from printed-on-paper documents, web pages, and social media sites.
- A technical writer develops instructions for research subjects on technical topics.
- A technical editor's main responsibility is to evaluate, revise, and proofread technical documents. They work with writers, researchers, and developers to ensure that content is accurate.
Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience preparing technical content related to Traffic Safety, with an emphasis on Pedestrian Safety.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Previous experience as a DOT employee or with DOT contracts is preferred.
