Senior Data Engineer — Boston, MA
A well-established consumer media and technology company is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to help modernize the data systems behind its digital products.
This is a senior, high-autonomy engineering role on a cross-functional Scrum team. You'll build and operate data pipelines supporting both real-time and batch use cases, partner with product, analytics, and engineering stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into reliable systems, and help set the technical bar for pipeline design, testing, and monitoring. There's a mentorship component too — you'll help other engineers level up their data engineering skills and contribute to broader technical direction.
What we're looking for:
- 7 years of software engineering experience, with the majority focused on data engineering
- 3 years building data solutions on AWS, including real-time streaming and event-driven systems
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
- Experience with tools like Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, or BigQuery
- Solid grasp of data modeling fundamentals, including dimensional modeling and warehouse design
- Comfort working in Agile/Scrum teams and owning technical decisions with minimal oversight
Nice to have: data governance/lineage experience, exposure to ML workflows, prior technical leadership.
Based in the Boston area with schedule flexibility. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Salary : $140,000 - $170,000
