Role Description
This is an on-site, full-time role located in Draper, UT, for a Low Voltage Technician/Installer. The Low Voltage Technician/Installer will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage A/V and communication systems. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting equipment, performing maintenance, interpreting schematics and technical drawings, and ensuring systems meet operational standards. The technician will work closely with a team to provide excellent service and ensure client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, and certify CAT 6, fiber, coax, and AV cabling
- Pre-wire and retrofit commercial and industrial buildings for data, audio/video, cameras, access control, and other low-voltage systems
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and job bids
- Troubleshoot and resolve network, AV, and connectivity issues
- Work at various heights using lifts and ladders, and in confined spaces as required
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Maintain project progress reports and assist with system testing and commissioning
- Ensure all installations meet NEC, BICSI, manufacturer, and customer standards
- Enforce safety compliance and maintain a clean, organized job site
Qualifications
- Experience with network, audio/video, and structured cabling
- two-way LMR experience a plus
- Full-time availability (40 hours, local with some statewide travel)
- OSHA 10 Certification required within 30 days of hire
- BICSI Level 1 Certification or equivalent minimum preferred
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to distinguish colors used in telecommunications wiring
- Valid Utah driver’s license
- Clean driving record with no DUIs
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must pass a BCI background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the shop in Draper, Utah
- Must possess personal hand tools and small power tools appropriate for low-voltage work
- Must have a cell phone with a data plan
