SABG is hiring a Technical Capabilities Subject Matter Expert III to support highly technical mission engineering, advanced technology development, and science & technology integration efforts with the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (USW(R&E)) in Arlington, Virginia.
This role supports the Department of War’s efforts to maintain technological superiority by accelerating innovation, integrating science and technology, and rapidly developing and fielding advanced warfighting capabilities. The position contributes to addressing complex operational challenges through mission engineering, prototyping, experimentation, and data-driven analysis in support of national security priorities.
JOB TITLE: Technical Capabilities Subject Matter Expert III
CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI security clearance
LOCATION: Arlington, Virginia

Cyber Engineering & Project Management:
· Lead the technical design and project management of cyber engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with DoW modernization objectives.
· Manage complex project timelines and resource allocation for cyber test and evaluation (T&E) portfolios.
Capability Testing & Experimentation:
· Lead the analysis, assessment, and demonstration of innovative cyber capabilities.
· Design and execute rigorous testing for offensive and defensive cyber technologies.
· Support the research and integration of emerging technologies into the force’s cyber architecture.
System Evaluation & Risk Assessment:
· Evaluate sensor system performance and operational feasibility to determine real-world effectiveness.
· Validate that technical capabilities meet mission-critical performance standards.
· Provide expert recommendations on system risks and mitigation strategies based on performance assessments.
Compliance & Technical Excellence:
· Ensure all cyber systems and testing protocols meet applicable DoD Directives and Instructions.
· Maintain high standards for technical documentation and experimental evidence collection.
SUPERVISION: This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related science/engineering field.
· 15 years of technical expertise in cyber engineering and cyberspace test and evaluation.
· 10 years of experience in project management for technical or engineering teams.
· 10 years of experience supporting the analysis, assessment, and testing of cyber capabilities.
· 10 years of experience evaluating and validating sensor system performance and effectiveness.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Must hold at least one of the following relevant industry credentials:
· Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
· Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
· Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
· CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP ).
· Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).
· Global Information Assurance Certifications (GIAC).
· Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
COMPUTER SKILLS:
· Skills in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
· Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
