Description

General Responsibilities:

Provide information to management for pre-sort and during sort production meetings. This will include information such as the status of container inventory, planned containers by flight, status of damaged containers or nets, and other special sort-specific load instructions.

  • Utilize aircraft arrival and line haul planning systems.
  • Ensure ULDs are in airworthy condition and the load plan reflects the current container inventory status.
  • Verify the required number and sequence for loading and departing ULDs.
  • Communicate with sort management and PSAs during the sort to ensure the accuracy and quality of container loads.
  • Audit ULD weights on closed containers and communicate discrepancies to sort PSAs.
  • Monitor real-time closed container counts of ULDs to ensure the load plan is not exceeded. Communicate concerns to sort and ramp management if adjustments are required.
  • Calculate aircraft weight and balance using an approved software package, including entering planned payload and aircraft type; this includes checks to ensure plans do not exceed compartment limits, lateral imbalance, and maximum payload.
  • Plan all cargo loading sequences and create all cargo load sheets.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of load planning.
  • Ensure the accuracy of aircraft loading paperwork, including all required weights, limits, and fuel calculations.
  • Communicate with ramp management to ensure aircraft load accuracy according to the load plan.
  • Verify that all containers and container weights are accurately entered into the weight & balance system.
  • Provide weight and balance and aircraft loading information to air carrier personnel responsible for releasing the flight.
  • Be willing to develop leadership within the ramp team.
  • Must report attendance on time to the shift manager.
  • Must be on call in case of any eventualities.
  • Availability to travel to cover the position at other stations if required.
  • Create work schedules and communicate them to the team in a timely manner.
  • Must maintain constant, clear, and full communication with the overall team.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must pass FAA and DHS criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
  • This position may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing. Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • English literacy skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible and rotating work schedule, including nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work 40 hours/week and overtime as needed.
  • Able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, all with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
  • Proficiency in computer usage, email, and MS Office Suite.
  • Organizational skills: able to handle multiple and changing projects/priorities.

Work Environment:

  • Temperature in the air gateway may vary depending on outside weather conditions and fluctuate depending on the season and daily weather conditions. You may be working outdoors your entire shift. The ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions is essential.
