What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Lead position at Strata Solar LLC?
Responsible for implementing and adhering to a project’s Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Field Quality Assurance Program and leading project staff to include, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Quality Technicians and Temporary Labor. Must be fluent in Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical inspection requirements but can assist in civil, and pre-commissioning inspection means and methods. Leadership role responsible for establishing and executing Project Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Quality Plans, personnel development, and training, isolating, and solving issues and reporting of Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Quality issues and Program Metrics. Initiates tests, analyzes results, and finds solutions to technical problems. Interacts with Strata Self Perform Electrical crews and Subcontractors regarding Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Quality plans, executions, and corrective action.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Solar Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Oversees Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Technicians and Temp Labor
Develops Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Inspection Test Points (ITPs) and reviews with Superintendents
Maintains and updates ITPs throughout the project
Oversees inspections and documentation
Works with Superintendents to ensure inspections occur within required timeframes
Works with ESP and subcontractors after approved FAI
Communicates quality‑related items with subcontractors and ESP teams
Completes daily walk‑downs with ESP and/or subcontractor QC
Trains QA and QC personnel on ITPs and inspection requirements
Maintains Daily Quality Report Heat Map
Works with Logistics on material/equipment nonconformance
Generates Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR) and Corrective Action Reports (CAR)
Provides inspection checklists to Quality Technicians and Temp Labor
Ensures delivery of quality inspection reports
Facilitates communication between Construction Manager, Superintendent, and Engineering
Audits QC documentation
Provides coverage for other Quality Leads as needed
Works with Quality Manager to develop and implement FQCP
Participates in interviews, reviews, discipline, and rewards
Provides weekly reporting to Senior Management
Provides daily reporting to Quality Manager
Fluent in inspection requirements, tools, and equipment
Manages project non‑conformances
Works with Self‑Perform and subcontractors on quality issues
Completes random oversight inspections
Verifies nonconformance rework completion
Works with teams on schedule, quality, and FQCP compliance
Investigates NCRs/CARs, provides oversight, verifies corrections, and completes required training
Works with project team on QC/testing requirements and checklist completion
Facilitates weekly Safety and Quality training
Holds daily meetings to communicate quality requirements, workflows, assignments, OT, and coverage
Maintains PPE checks
Assists in preparation of Field Quality Control Program
Prepares schedule for quality team
Communicates concerns related to scheduling, subcontractors, and quality issues
Identifies and documents quality issues and drives continuous improvement
Assists in establishing documentation of standard operating specifications/procedures
Maintains inspection metrics and distributes weekly reports
Holds internal and external quality meetings
Ensures documentation, materials, consumables, and vehicles are ready for deployment
Places order requests to Quality Manager
Develops Quality Technicians and Temp Labor knowledge of Quality Plan
Documents standard operating procedures
Communicates revisions to procedures
Prepares QIR, NCR, P/CAR, RFIs, and Root Cause Analysis
Provides technical support during inspections and problem resolution
Maintains clean and operational vehicle
Reports fleet vehicle damage/maintenance to Fleet Manager
Arrives prepared and appropriately dressed
Maintains positive and attentive attitude
Reviews and submits time/per diem sheets weekly
Checks and responds to email daily
Works independently and as part of a team
Gathers data for RFIs and sees them to closure
Trains teams on FieldView usage
Maintains communication with subcontractors regarding deficiencies and closure
Verifies tooling calibration certifications
Maintains document retention using correct platforms (E‑Room, PWA, Viewpoint, Teams, etc.)
Understands and abides by all company policies
Helps develop training material for the department
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leads Project Quality Staff.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
3 years verifiable Quality Management/Lead experience or 4‑year degree in construction or similar
OSHA 30 or NCCER STS‑C
NFPA 70E
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Understanding of current technology practices
Clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices
Ability to read and understand construction drawings
Ability to read electrical single‑line and three‑line diagrams
Ability to read manufacturer installation standards
Ability to travel and work on‑call/off‑shift/weekends
Must maintain operational cellular device
Must pass initial and random drug screenings
Salaried individuals expected to work minimum 50 hours per week
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Work is 90% field, 10% office. Outdoor environment, all weather conditions. Extensive travel required. Must comply with safety standards and PPE requirements. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8–10 hours. Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
